Case Study – Waimauku Luxury Bathroom
Collins Plumbing, Gas and Heating were employed to create a eco, energy efficient bathroom with a double shower and plenty of functional smart storage. All Design, Plumbing, Heating & Roofing was provided by Collins.

Why?
It was the first big project of our home renovation, it was the need but also the desire for a second bathroom as an ensuite via a walk-in robe. A place for the adults, functional, yet modern and luxurious.
What was required:
A Builder was required to alter our 4th unused bedroom to make room to add in a second bathroom& walk-in robe and an attic above master suite for much-needed storage possible because of our pitched roof.
The Double Shower
Tiled walk in Double Shower with Matte black twin shower rails including rain head dumpers by Phoenix Tapware, and matching matte black shelves from the same range, The shower mixers are Milli Axon in Rose gold and matte black from Reece Plumbing. White Gloss Wall Tiles from Casa Italiana and Italian Grey Hexagon Floor Tiles from Tilespace.
Heating
Hydronic underfloor heating via a Bosch Heat Pump used to heat floors, walls and towel rail using Rehau pipework, We love our custom painted Matte Black Towel rail that both heats the room and also drys towels.
Accessories
Lighting: Pendant from Lighting Direct & down lights from JA Russel and all electrical work by Cain Electrical
Mirror: From Shut the Front Door by Middle of No Where
Styling: Accessories from Reece Plumbing, Citta Design, Bed Bath and Beyond, Cotton On Home, The Warehouse, Kikki K & Triumph & Disaster Skincare.
Windows
Due to having to remove the existing windows, we installed a Velux Skylight from Mitre 10 with an automated opening to allow for sunlight and ventilation. Flashings for this addition all made and installed by our Roofing team. This is controlled by a wireless control panel.
Bathroom Appliances
Toilet: A Gerberit in wall cistern with a Axa Uno floor mounted toilet with Soft Close seat from Reece Plumbing, Henderson.
Vanity/Basin: Wall hung Ravani American Walnut vanity with off-set Happy Hour Vessel basin and Rose Gold and Matte Black Milli Axon basin mixer which allows ample bench space again all from Reece Plumbing Henderson. The 1200mm Newtech Vanity in American Walnut has two large soft close draws which provide great storage.
Our Biggest Challenge
The Building work and then the Tiling design, we were lucky to be recommended a craftsman Tiler, Valentino. He spent tireless hours working on getting our geometric patterning on the floor and the tiles on the walls to work perfectly, the end result, flawless. I had never thought about this side of things in terms of the craftsmanship and planning time they put into this. Choosing your tiles is one thing but making them work in your space, something for professionals.
